1. Out in Front
While it might not be obvious, the most basic factor to ensure that participants get the most value out of having a graphic recorder in the room is locate the graphic recorder and their work surface is in the front of the room, visible to everyone. Depending on the nature of your meeting, sometimes it is extremely helpful to keep other members who are not physically in attendance, involved virtually. It will also add a dynamic, creative energy to your meeting or conference. 4. Not All Visuals Are Created Equal
Creating visual hierarchy is crucial in ensuring that the finished illustration is as legible, effective, and evocative as it can be. Visual hierarchy can be established using a variety of design tools, including color, size, containers, banners, arrows and other creative elements. One effective and simple method is to illustrate the most important points in bold letters and saturated colors, and the supporting points with thinner lines and smaller letters. Another way to think about visual hierarchy is to imagine the content as the front page of the New York Times–which point should be the headline? What should be the image that accompanies it?
