Draw Your Big Idea at Book Passage

Draw Your Big Idea at Book Passage

July 13, 2016

Brainwave regulators, in-house authors, and spy gear for your fridge: what do they all have in common? They’re all big ideas of some intrigued and engaged San Franciscans! On July 9th, our senior graphic recorder James Lake graphic recorded a social listening mural to promote our new book Draw Your Big Idea at Book Passage at the San Francisco Ferry Building. Social Listening is an interactive Q+A where we ask a question, attendees respond to it, and we draw it up all in real time. These illustrations are tweeted out to further boost their presence and memorialize them forever for attendees. The responses ranged from […]

Folks We Admire: Tracy Chou

Folks We Admire: Tracy Chou

December 16, 2015

Tracy Chou, head software engineer at Pinterest, has an impressive resume.  She began her work in the tech field by interning at Facebook and Google, before taking a leading role at Quora, the site that promises its users “the best answer to any question.” Her list of achievements, however, includes one more major bullet point: making public the massive imbalance of men to women in Silicon Valley.  The tech world is overwhelmingly male, with many companies having only around 10-20% of their workforce represented by women. After the October 2013 Grace Hopper Celebration (named after the great female American computer scientist), where she found others sharing […]

IFVP 2015: Jill Greenbaum, Being a Stellar Presenter

IFVP 2015: Jill Greenbaum, Being a Stellar Presenter

September 30, 2015

As graphic facilitators, recorders, and presenters, we are constantly working and engaging with an audience. Jill Greenbaum’s enlightening workshop about Being a Stellar Presenter gave us some more tools and valuable insight into what we can do to ensure we’re doing our best job. First, it is essential to know yourself before you can know how to work with others. Knowing how you like to work, what your style is, what your strengths and weaknesses are, and what you prefer will help you to be able to connect and communicate well with those who work differently. Some of us prefer to […]

ImageThink’s Guide to Packing a Proper SF Bag

September 24, 2015

ImageThink has been a team of experienced travelers flying out of New York City, before we opened our west coast office in San Francisco. After a few months of settling in, we created this infographic to help others plan their days, including everything you’ll need to take in your bag around San Francisco. The ImageThink Guide to Packing a Proper SF Bag 1. A light jacket is always useful, year round. “There’s one type of weather in San Francisco: San Francisco weather”, says a local San Francisco taxi driver. Sunny and warm during the day, chilly and foggy at night. You can see the beautiful […]

IFVP 2015: The Aesthetics + Ethics of Visual Storytelling

IFVP 2015: The Aesthetics + Ethics of Visual Storytelling

August 10, 2015

We had the opportunity of graphic recording a compelling and informative talk at IFVP 2015 by some of the most credible visual practitioners in our field. Liisa Sorsa, Anthony Weeks, and Kelvy Bird shared the wealth of knowledge they’ve accrued throughout their many years of being graphic recorders and graphic facilitators during their conversation, The Aesthetics and Ethics of Visual Storytelling.      It was a challenging and unique experience to graphic record a discussion about how to effectively tell a visual story. We were actively listening, synthesizing, drawing and learning new information at the same time! Some of the biggest takeaways from the […]

SXSW2015 Speaker Spotlight: Eric Ries, Don Tapscott, Lawrence Lessig

March 11, 2015

SXSW is fast approaching, and we couldn’t be more excited to return to Austin, Texas! Three speakers we are particularly excited about are Eric Ries, Don Tapscott, and Lawrence Lessig. In 2007, BusinessWeek named Ries one of the Best Young Entrepreneurs of Tech. He serves on the advisory board of a number of technology startups and venture capital firms. In 2008 he served as a venture advisor at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. ImageThink has previously scribed Eric Ries’ […]

Visual Learning in Santa Fe, New Mexico

November 24, 2014

ImageThink was traveling west this fall. And we had the chance to visit Santa Fe, the oldest capital city in the United States. And we took our own notes about what we can learn about visual communication in this vibrant historic city. The city of Santa Fe was originally occupied by a number of Pueblo Indian villages with founding dates between 1050 to 1150. One of the earliest known settlements in what today is downtown Santa Fe came sometime after 900. A Native American group built a cluster of homes that centered around the site of today’s Plaza and spread for half […]

ImageThink in Hollywood

November 21, 2014

As winter on the east coast has officially started, ImageThink has just returned from a west-coast trip! We were invited to graphic record in the beautiful Los Angeles, and our venue no other than the heart of Hollywood. ImageThink planning the official transportation for the next offsite… Our Graphic Recorders are no strangers to the spotlight. ImageThink on a TV set, ready for action! Off-duty: we had a chance to check out the beautiful Santa Monica beach and 72 degrees weather. As well as giving an artistic critique of the penmanship of superstars on Hollywood Blvd. Goodbye for now, LA! […]
