South by Southwest Interactive, the biggest tech event of the year is just around the corner. With this year’s sessions revealed, we at ImageThink were eager to dive in and check out a preview of this year’s content for the conference happening in March. In 2014, ImageThink sponsored SXSW Interactive and produced live graphic recording at over 50 sessions, including every keynote. There were key trends that emerged from 2014’s conference that are still being shared on the net today. Taking a close look at this year’s lineup, we compared notes and made our predictions of this year’s trends. 5. Diversity Diversity of race, culture and gender has been a major challenge in the tech industry. As an field that affects the lives and the future of millions, it has been great to see talks that focused on diversity, equality and gender politics. Last year we graphic recorded George Takei, a prominent voice in the LGBT community and speaker for racial equality in America, and the founder of Nasty Gal, speaking about women in business. Immersive experience The Internet of Things has successfully sustained its buzz all year. The IoT is a computing concept that describes a future where everyday physical objects will be connected to the Internet and be able to identify themselves to other devices. The technology can also incorporate sensors which then can be developed into wearable products. Usage of wearable technology is not limited to fashion alone, but can be widely adapted in entertainment, healthcare, sports and scientific research. Privacy Last year, one of the first keynotes we graphic recorded was ‘The New Digital Age’ by Eric Schmidt, Jared Cohen and Steven Levy. In this talk, the panelists addressed the new digital landscape of today, including the challenge to balance privacy and security, the increasing need for raising awareness for cyber security breeches, and the moral questions behind the digital revolution. We also live recorded Edward Snowden’s virtual conversation with Chris Soghoian and Ben Wizner.
